Robin Boyer

Robin Boyar heads thinktank, a research and strategy consultancy focusing on the digital consumer. Key areas of specialty include online, mobile, video games, healthcare, social and emerging technologies.

Previous to founding thinktank, Robin led the consumer research department at Electronic Arts (EA), the world’s largest videogame publisher. As Senior Director of Research, she managed efforts for EA’s PC, console, online, handheld and mobile games. In her six and a half years at EA, she created the company’s first centralized research department, initiated new research methodologies and managed a team of internal and external researchers. Robin worked on hundreds of titles and had a perfect track record predicting the relative success of all EA releases.

Robin has fifteen years of research experience. She has extensive experience with a wide variety of research methodologies, ranging from focus groups and surveys to in depth ethnographic and lifestyle approaches.

In addition, Robin is a veteran of four startups, and has over seventeen years experience working in such related fields as software, internet, education, and the arts. Previous to EA, she led research efforts at Pogo.com, an online gaming company and was the Manager of Consumer Insights at InsWeb, an online insurance marketplace. Robin began her career as a researcher specializing in education and technology, working for such entities as McGraw-Hill, PBS, the State of California and other educational software companies.

Robin holds an A.B. from Bryn Mawr College, where she majored in History of Art with a concentration in photography. Her senior thesis focused on art and technology.

In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, the visual arts, gardening and driving her vintage Alfa Romeo convertible.
